About Us
The SpeedFlexer was invented by Ned Burns who is the owner of JEB Sports Equipment,
alongside former Galway Hurling player and manager Conor Hayes and Dr. Liam Hennessy
from Setanta Sports College.
Ned Burns
Ned is the creator of the SpeedFlexer. He is a qualified Gym Instructor andPersonal Trainer who has managed and coached various schools and sports
organisations in Ireland including:
- St. Jarlath's College, Tuam when they won the Hogan Cup Colleges Final in 2002.
- Galway's minor Gaelic Football team for 3 years.
- The Irish Under 17 football team against Australia.
- Athlone Institute of Technology Sigerson Cup gaelic football team from 2007 to 2009
- Monivea Rugby Club
- Padraig Pearses Hurling Club
- A number of other Gaelic football clubs in County Galway
Conor Hayes
Conor is one of Galway's most successful Senior Hurlers ever. He won three All-Ireland winning medals with his County, twice as captain in 1987 and 1988. He went on to manage the Galway Senior hurling team, leading them to a National League Title in 2004 and an All-Ireland Final appearance against Cork in 2005. Conor owns his own engineering business, and is still involved in coaching and training. His main sporting achievements include:- 3 All-Ireland Senior Hurling titles (1980, 1987 and 1988)
- Back-To-Back All-Ireland winning captain in 1987 and 1988
- 3 Hurling All-Star Awards
- 1 All-Ireland Club Title (1992)
- 3 Connacht Club Titles
- 5 Galway Senior Hurling titles
- 4 Railway Cup titles
- Manager of the National Hurling League winning Galway Senior Hurling team (2004)
- Manager of the Galway Senior Hurling team who reached the 2005 All-Ireland final
Dr. Liam Hennessy
Dr. Liam Hennessy has over 20 years experience working full-time in sport. He is an Exercise and Clinical Physiologist and Strength and Conditioning coach. Since 2000, Liam has been the Director of Fitness with the Irish Rugby Football Union, with a staff of 24 full time coaches working under his direction. His team are responsible for the fitness development at all level of rugby in Ireland.He is also one of the founders of Setanta Sports College, who offer a range of sports coaching certificates to coaches in Ireland and the UK, and is Padraig Harrington’s fitness adviser and coach. Dr. Hennessy represented Ireland over 50 times at the pole vault. He has successfully coached many teams and athletes in various sports and these include:
- National jumps coach.
- Irish team manager at the first world junior Athletic Championships in Athens in 1985.
- Chief Exercise Physiologist to the Irish Olympic team in Atlanta 1996.
- Worked with professional soccer teams in Germany, Italy and England.
- Advised and trained several inter-county Gaelic football and hurling teams working as
Fitness coach with Tipperary when they won the All-Ireland senior hurling title in 1991.
